DEPARTMENT OF HND SLT (BIOLOGY/MICROBIOLOGY OPTION) REPORT ON MICROBIOLOGY DAY (2024)

The Department HND SLT, Biology/Microbiology Option, held a Symposium/Workshop on Wednesday 22nd of May 2024 titled; MICROBIOLOGY DAY, with the theme: Understanding Microbial World; the Dynamics of Self Sufficiency.

The Occasion was graced by the Dean, of Pure and Applied Sciences as well as Heads of the various Departments, who also gave their goodwill messages (including the staff).

Participants who registered for the workshop are; staff and students of the department, other members of staff and students from other departments including people from outside the college. A total of 73 participants registered for the workshop.

The Guest Speaker, Dr Bamidele Tolulope Odumosu, from the University of Lagos, gave an insight into the microbial world as it relates to their flexibility, mutation abilities and diversity. The speaker centered his lecture on the need for humans to be innovative and refuse to conform to Status Quo, so as to stay relevant in the ever-changing world.
He also advised all participants to master their environment and Schedule their time properly, while adopting some microbial characteristics to thrive and be self-sufficient. The Lecture was followed by questions and answers by Participants.

The event also featured the presentation of Departmental Anthem by HND 1 students of the Department, which was composed by one of them, Adediran, Victoria Aduragbemi. A Plaque was presented to her in appreciation for her efforts and ingenuity.
Other side attractions includes; a playlet and recitation by the students. The participants were issued certificates of participation (Electronic). There were also picture sessions to capture the memories of the beautiful event.
